Obviously if you are looking for these lower cost options, you are not the only one. Gently used bridal wear is constantly circulating through eBay.

You can find beautiful dresses at very low prices both through eBay and through other online re-sale shops. In most cases, there is no way anyone is going to be able to tell that the dress was worn before unless you announce it at your wedding.

Spending your money on a vintage dress can free up money that you will want to have after all of the guests are gone. No one wants to spend all of the money they received as gifts as they pay off wedding debts. Certainly the day you get married is a special day, but it doesn’t make much sense to put yourself into debt for the next ten years paying for it. Especially if your are just starting out as a newly married couple. You will find plenty of things to spend that money on as you do the “boring” day to day stuff like setting up a house.

If you are going to search places like eBay for a gently used dress or gown, use terms like “gently used”,”gently worn”, “worn once”, and “vintage” as your search terms. Using the phrase “cheap wedding dresses” will most likely bring back no results, as most sellers will not list something they are selling like that.

When you consider purchasing a second hand dress, always feel free to ask questions of the seller. Most people who are selling merchandise expect that there will be questions involved in such an important purchase. If the dress was custom made, it may be an especially good idea to ask for the exact “actual” measurements of the dress so that you can compare it to something that you already know fits. You should also ask if there would be any problems with making alterations to the dress since you may want to do that before your wedding day.

There are many people who choose to go the more “practical” route when buying a wedding gown. It does not mean that they value their day any less than anyone else. They have their reasons and are probably very practical people who do not want to take on a huge new debt as they start a new life. They know that they will still look beautiful even if they are wearing a “cheap wedding dress.”
